The 19th International Sons of the Desert Convention is quickly approaching. This week, I had three couples cancel their Laurel and Hardywood plans due to severe illness/injury. Since these registrations counted toward the numbers already given to convention vendors, I am offering six convention full-access passes at the original discounted price. This special offer is for the first six delegates who wish to register and take advantage of this discount.
I also have received questions about the convention walking tours (the two-hour tour at MGM and the one-hour tour at Culver City). I found a mobility scooter rental place that, for a $134 fee, will deliver a scooter to the hotel for use on Wednesday through Saturday of the convention. The scooter also can be used to and from the Egyptian Theater and during the Friday walking tour of Hollywood. If you need this assistance, you will have full access to the scooter during your stay and be able to store it in your hotel room. Please let me know if you are interested and I will send you more information.
Thursday night, July 3rd, is the banquet at the Hollywood Museum. This will be your chance to view the “100 Years of Hal Roach Studios” exhibit. This also will be the one costume event during the convention. Dress as anyone related to the Hal Roach Studios. This includes, but is not limited to, Laurel and Hardy, Billy Gilbert, Our Gang, Taxi Boys, Pitts, Toddy or Kelly, One Million B.C., TV shows such as My Little Margie, or even those “other guys” Abbott and Costello, extras, moviegoers of the era, etc. The possibilities are endless.
