Laurel and Hardywood – Convention Update #44

When arriving to the Loews Hollywood Hotel (1755 North Highland Avenue) for the first time.

The main entrance to the hotel is located just north of Hollywood Blvd and south of Franklin Avenue.  Take Johnny Grant Drive into the Hollywood and Highland Complex and then take a quick sharp right to the valet parking of the hotel.  You may leave your car with valet (it is $20 for the first two hours and $35 after that).  Or you can unload your luggage with the bell captain and then move your car to the complex’s self-parking.  (Valet will direct you.)  Self-parking is now $13 per day-no in and out privileges.

If you are self-parking underground in the complex, after parking take the elevators or escalators to the third floor of the complex and follow the signs to the Loews Hotel.  When entering the hotel from the complex you will be on the mezzanine level (this is the floor where all of our events will be held on Friday and registration will take place).  Walk to the elevators straight in front of you (you can’t go any further), and go down one level to the lobby.  Once you have your luggage, check in and enjoy the fun!

Registration will begin on Sunday evening.  An email alert will be sent detailing times and location.

There are plenty of restaurants just outside the door in the Hollywood and Highland complex or on Hollywood Blvd.

Although the LA area subway system is no NYC by any means, there is a convenient stop just in front of the hotel on Hollywood Blvd.  You are one stop away from the Universal Studios subway station.

Also you are steps away from two historic theatres, The El Capitan and the former Grauman’s Chinese. The El Capitan is currently showing the Disney film Maleficent at 10:00 am, 1:10, 4:20 and 7:30.  It is a fun, old style theatre with balcony seating. A fun experience! Grauman’s Chinese is now TCL Chinese Theatre and is an IMAX theatre-I know, I know but it is what it is!  If you still want to check it out, Transformers: Age of Extinction is playing 9:15 am, 12:45, 4:15, 7:45 and 11:15.

That should keep you busy until the convention begins!

See you soon!

Bob
